White House: N. Korean Nuke Should Top Priority for Trump

The White House chief of staff says the Barack Obama administration has made clear from the beginning that the North Korean nuclear issue should be a top priority for the incoming Donald Trump administration.
In an interview with PBS on Monday, Obama's Chief of Staff Denis McDonough addressed what he would like to say to Trump regarding Pyongyang's nuclear issue.
Noting it is a "critically important issue," McDonough said it is a core interest of the U.S. to not be threatened by North Korea.
He stressed the need for China's cooperation and understanding on the importance the U.S. attaches to the issue.
While emphasizing that the U.S. remains deeply engaged with its allies against the North's threats, McDonough said that the North Koreans will continue to feel deeper and deeper isolation.
He also shared concerns about the North's development of an intercontinental ballistic missile that may be capable of targeting the U.S. mainland.
