N. Korea Pledges to Continue Satellite Launches
North Korea has hinted at its intention to test launch intercontinental ballistic missiles, with its Workers' Party gazette declaring to continue with a space satellite program.
The North’s Rodong Sinmun on Sunday carried an article, claiming that Pyongyang will never give up its space development project despite external opposition.
While denouncing the U.S.’ hostility policy toward North Korea, the newspaper stressed that the North will become an international space power with its firm determination to achieve state-of-the-art space technologies.
It said that Washington has been denying the peaceful purposes of North Korea’s satellite launches by calling them long-range missiles. The Rodong Sinmun also criticized the Obama administration for forcing Pyongyang to give up satellite launches in the name of the UN.
The international community believes that North Korea has been developing intercontinental ballistic missile technology disguised as satellite launches. UN Security Council resolutions prohibit the North from conducting test-firings based on ballistic missile technology.
