Donald Trump Gov't Vows Defense against N. Korea

The new U.S. Donald Trump administration brought up defense measures against North Korea's nuclear and missile threat on its very first day.

The White House posted key policy guidelines on its Web site following Trump's inauguration and unveiled plans to develop an advanced missile defense system to protect against attacks from countries like North Korea and Iran.

Under the heading "Making Our Military Strong Again," the White House said that President Trump will "end the defense sequester and submit a new budget to Congress outlining a plan to rebuild the U.S. military." A sequester refers to automatic cuts in defense spending.

The White House also said the country will provide its military leaders with the means to plan for future defense needs, and develop a state-of-the-art missile defense system to protect against missile-based attacks from countries like Iran and North Korea.
