North Korea has reportedly been enhancing airfield facilities to enable swift aircraft response to bolster the combat capabilities of its Air Force.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported that facilities for parking and storing vehicles or aircraft were seen on the North’s major expressways and airstrips of the Korean People’s Air Force.

A commercial satellite imagery taken on October 4, 2016 showed eleven of those facilities at six sections of a runway on the Pyongyang-Mount Myohyang expressway.

The walled facilities are directly linked to the runway and have a large space enough to accommodate aircraft and many vehicles.

The RFA said that similar facilities are seen at at least three sections of an airstrip on the Pyongyang-Gaeseong highway.
