South Korea’s chief nuclear negotiator will visit Europe this week for a series of high-level consultation meetings on the North Korean nuclear issue.

The Foreign Ministry said Monday that Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun will meet with Nicolas de Riviere, director-general for political affairs and security at France’s Foreign Ministry, in Paris on Wednesday.

The two will meet for the inaugural South Korea-France high-level meeting on the North's nuclear issue, which President Park Geun-hye and French President François Hollande agreed to during their summit meeting last June.

Kim will then visit Belgium, where he will meet with Helga Schmid and Jean-Christophe Belliard, secretary-general and deputy secretary-general of the European External Action Service, respectively, to discuss issues regarding the North and the Korean Peninsula.
