China Updates Banned Goods List for Export to N. Korea

As the new Donald Trump administration vowed an unyielding response to North Korean nuclear threats, Beijing says it is implementing an additional measure to comply with UN Security Council(UNSC) sanctions on Pyongyang.
China's Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday night updated the list of goods and technologies banned for exports to the North under UNSC Resolution 2321.
The list contains around 70 items in eight areas that can be used in the development of nuclear weapons and missiles by the North such as ingredients and software.
The measure was announced under the names of five government agencies— the Commerce Ministry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the China Atomic Energy Authority and the General Administration of Customers.
The Beijing government said items on the list will be immediately banned from being sold to the North upon announcement.
It is the first action taken by the Chinese government with respect to the North’s nuclear and missile threats since Trump was sworn in as the 45th U.S. president last Friday.
