Acting Pres. Condemns N. Korea’s Continued Provocations

Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn has denounced Pyongyang’s repeated attempts to test-fire ballistic missiles and upgrade its missile technology.

In a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Hwang said the latest North Korean missile launch on Sunday is a blatant challenge to the UN Security Council resolutions and international warnings, calling it an intolerable provocation that threatens peace on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.

The acting president ordered the government to closely cooperate with allies and the international community in making the North give up its nuclear and missile development through UN Security Council resolutions and tougher sanctions.

He also called on government agencies to make all-out efforts to ensure public safety and water-tight security on the basis of solid South Korea-U.S. alliance.
