Trump Expresses Concerns about Possible N. Korean Info Leak

Anchor: U.S. President Donald Trump unleashed harsh words about the press in a news conference. While blasting the information leak that led to the resignation of his national security adviser Michael Flynn, Trump emphasized that this should never happen when dealing with "really really important subjects like North Korea."

"The first thing I thought of when I heard about it was, 'How does the press get this information that's classified. How do they do it? You know why? Because it is an illegal process and the press should be ashamed of themselves..."

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is concerned that when he has important calls on North Korean nuclear and missile issues, they could also be leaked.

“North Korea - we'll take care of it folks; we're going to take care of it all. I just want to let you know, I inherited a mess.”

In a heated 75-minute news conference on Thursday, Trump brought up North Korea while taking questions over the resignation of his national security adviser Michael Flynn.

He said North Korea is one of the crucial subjects facing the U.S. and added that he doesn’t have to tell the media his plans because the communist country would find out about it if he does so.

Trump said information printed in publications like the Washington Post and the New York Times could undermine the U.S. response to big problems.

Against this backdrop,  a group of U.S. Republican senators have urged the Treasury Department to significantly tighten the financial channels on North Korea to curb its dangerously accelerating nuclear and missile programs.

Six senators led by Ted Cruz of Texas made the appeal in a joint letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to "execute the full extent of financial sanctions and targeted financial measures provided for under current law."
