Female Assassination Suspect Visited S. Korea

It has been confirmed that one of the two female suspects in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam visited South Korea three months ago.

An official at a South Korean intelligence authority said Wednesday that 28-year old Doan Thi Huong entered into South Korea on a Vietnamese passport in November.

The suspect was arrested by the Malaysian police after she was seen attacking the late half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Monday last week with an accomplice.

While the purpose of her visit to South Korea remains unclear, the intelligence official also noted that a South Korean man had stood guarantee for her. The man left for France on February first this year.

An intelligence official said it appears that the South Korean man had no direct involvement in the killing of Kim Jong-nam.

The woman’s family in Vietnam told the local media that she studied pharmacy in Hanoi.
