Yun: Assassination to Prompt Int'l Action on N. Korea

Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se says that the assassination of Kim Jong-nam will prompt the international community to take more measures against North Korea.
Following strategic dialogue with his British counterpart in London on Wednesday, Yun said the assassination will be regarded as a terrorist attack and an infringement of Malaysia’s sovereignty by North Korea if Pyongyang is confirmed to be behind the murder of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half brother.
He said that if confirmed, he expected an atmosphere will be formed to discuss the incident at international organizations such as a human rights agency. He stressed that the assassination is a very grave violation of international norms and order if the North’s involvement is confirmed.
The minister added that the incident will inevitably affect the European Union’s plan to shortly announce its own sanctions designed to discourage North Korea’s nuclear and missile ambition.
Yun underscored that more provocations by the North will likely make the international community take decisive action. He noted that some countries have tried to lead the North in the right direction, but now the situation is getting difficult even for them to do so.
