Nuke Envoys of S. Korea, US, Japan to Meet Next Week

The top nuclear negotiators of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan will sit down for talks in Washington next Monday.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Cho June-hyuck said Thursday that the upcoming meeting will focus on the latest situations on the Korean Peninsula, possible schemes North Korea could engage in and ways of cooperation.
Cho said the top nuclear envoys will also discuss the faithful implementation of independent sanctions against Pyongyang and substantial ways to realize sincere and meaningful denuclearization talks.
The top envoys of South Korea and the U.S. are also scheduled to hold bilateral talks.
The upcoming meeting would be the first of its kind to be held since the inauguration of the Trump administration in the U.S.
The meeting will see the participation of South Korea's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun, the U.S.' Special Representative for North Korea Policy Joseph Yun and Japan's Director-General for the Foreign Ministry’s Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Kenji Kanasugi.
