Malay Police: Kim Jong-nam's Family to Visit

The Malaysian police suggested a family member of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half brother Kim Jong-nam may come to Malaysia soon.

According to the New Straits Times, Malaysia's Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Noor Rashid Ibrahim, told reporters on Thursday that no family member of Kim Jong-nam has arrived in Malaysia yet but said that within the next few days, “one of them will come forward.”

He said it may be a child or a relative who lives “not far away” from Malaysia.

During his meeting with reporters, the deputy Malaysian police chief refrained from calling the victim of the February 13th incident “Kim Jong-nam,” out of diplomatic consideration for the North, which has called the victim “Kim Chol,” the name on the passport he was carrying.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's police chief, Inspector General Khalid Abu Bakar, held a media conference on Wednesday to reaffirm his country’s stance that it will give the bereaved family the priority to take over the body of the victim.

The police chief also said Malaysia will give the bereaved family a reasonable amount of time to come to Malaysia and guarantee their safety in the country.
