U.S. JCS Chief: N. Korea Poses Threat to U.S. Mainland

U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford says that North Korea is posing a threat to the U.S. mainland beyond South Korea and East Asia.
General Dunford made the remarks in a forum on global threats and the U.S.’ national security priorities, which was hosted by the Brookings Institution on Thursday. He noted North Korea’s continued efforts to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles loaded with nuclear warheads.
He mentioned Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and the transnational terrorist groups IS and Al-Qaeda as threats, which are all becoming transregional challenges along with violent extremism.
