S. Korea's Implementation Report Says Inter-Korean Exchange, Cooperation Nonexistent

The government reported to a UN Security Council(UNSC) committee that there are no exchanges or cooperation taking place between the two Koreas.

The UNSC Committee Established Pursuant to Resolution 1718 posted on its Web site on Friday that the South Korean government stated how related ministries and agencies implemented Resolution 2321 in a 13-page report.

Among the agencies that made the implementation efforts were the ministries of unification, industry, transportation, fisheries and the Korea Customs Service.

According to the report, the Unification Ministry is seeking to establish a cooperation system at the pan-government level to block the entrance of North Korean products that make their way into the South after passing through a third country. The ministry is said to be seeking revisions to related laws in the first half of the year.

Out of all UN member states, South Korea was the first to submit an implementation report to the UNSC committee last Monday.

According to foreign media, Monaco has since handed in its implementation report, becoming the second nation to do so.

UN member states have until next Tuesday to submit reports on implementing Resolution 2321 which was adopted last November.
