S. Korea to Complete Land Acquisition for THAAD This Week

The Defense Ministry is expected to complete the land acquisition deal needed to house the United States advanced THAAD antimissile system early this week.
A ministry official said on Sunday that if Lotte Group holds a meeting of the board of directors to endorse a land swap deal, the ministry will conclude the deal with Lotte right away. The board meeting is reportedly scheduled for Monday.
In November last year, the ministry and Lotte agreed on a deal to swap the Lotte Skyhill Country Club in Seongju County, North Gyeongsang Province for military-owned land in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The ministry plans to deploy the antimissile system as soon as possible, speeding up related procedures after the land acquisition deal.
