Foreign Minister: Kim Assassination Violation of International Norms

Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se says North Korea's human rights situation and violations of international norms are at a serious stage.
Yun made the remark in Geneva on Sunday before attending sessions by the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament this week.
The foreign minister said he will highlight the issue at the meetings and aim to draw a firm response from the international community.
He added that he will emphasize at the meetings that a banned lethal chemical was used in the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half brother Kim Jong-nam.
He said North Korea, which is a member of the Conference on Disarmament, committed a crime in the territory of another member, Malaysia. He said he will induce a strong response from other members by stressing that the action was a serious infringement on sovereignty and a violation of international norms.
South Korea had reportedly planned to dispatch a vice foreign minister to the meetings, but raised the level of the country's representative following Malaysia's announcement that a VX nerve agent was used to kill Kim Jong-nam.
