"N. Korean Suspect Not to Face Charges over Assassination"

A Singaporean media outlet said on Wednesday that the only North Korean suspect arrested in connection with the murder of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half-brother Kim Jong-nam is expected to be deported to North Korea, without facing any charges.
The Channel News Asia made the report, quoting a “well-placed source,” who said that the Malaysian Prosecutor-General Mohamed Apandi will not indict Ri Jong-chol and that he will likely be expelled.
The Malaysian Attorney-General said previously that the decision to indict Ri will be decided on Friday, when his detention period expires.
The Malaysian police, who arrested Ri on February 17th, have yet to identify what specific role he played in the death of Kim Jong-nam.
The 46-year-old North Korean is suspected of assisting the other North Korean suspects who fled to the North, although some speculated he was involved in making the VX nerve agent and bringing it into Malaysia.
On Tuesday, the North dispatched a delegation to Malaysia led by former North Korean deputy ambassador to the United Nations Ri Tong-il. The North Korean delegation has requested the return of Kim Jong-nam’s body and the release of Ri Jong-chol.
