Malaysia Rejects N. Korea’s Demand for Kim's Body

The Malaysian government has again rejected North Korea’s demand for the transfer of Kim Jong-nam’s body.
Malaysian Health Minister Subramaniam Sathasivam told reporters Wednesday that Kim’s body will be handed over to his next of kin.
The minister said that the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was confirmed to have been killed by VX nerve agent and that the Malaysian government will not change the conclusion. He stressed that Kim’s body will never be released without confirmation through DNA samples from his family.
The minister also said that there is no time limit on how long Kuala Lumpur will keep Kim’s body.
He explained that a dead body is usually proclaimed without surviving family or relatives if it's not claimed in three or four months after relevant advertisements are placed in newspapers.
But the minister said that due to the significance of this case, the Malaysian government will have to wait for the bereaved family to appear and confirm his identity before making a decision on its next move.
