Malaysia Expels N. Korean Ambassador

Malaysia has expelled the North Korean ambassador to the country amid the diplomatic row over the death of Kim Jong-nam.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman on Saturday issued a statement revealing Ambassador Kang Chol had been declared 'persona non grata' and should leave Malaysia by 6 p.m. on Monday.
The Malaysian foreign minister explained that Kang was requested to show up at the ministry by 6 p.m. Saturday but neither he nor the embassy’s senior officials complied.
As the ambassador did not agree to the meeting, the ministry informed the North of the decision.
The Malaysian government said that during a meeting between officials of the two countries in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, it had demanded an apology from Pyongyang for its accusation of Malaysia’s involvement in the death of the North Korean leader’s half brother.
The ministry had warned it would take measures against the North unless it responded to their call for an apology, however the North had still not made any apology by Saturday.
Kang’s expulsion came several days after Malaysia said it would scrap visa-free entry for North Koreans.
