N. Korean Media: Ballistic Missile Drill to Strike US Troops in Japan

North Korean state-run media reports that the nation's military staged a ballistic missile launch exercise to strike the U.S. military base in Japan.
In an apparent reference to the ballistic missile launches towards the East Sea the previous day, the Korean Central News Agency(KNCA) said Tuesday that artillery units of its Strategic Force of the Korean People's Army carried out the drill.
KCNA said that the units are tasked to strike "the bases of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces in Japan."
The North Korea media also said that the exercise was also aimed at inspecting the unit's swift operations capabilities and handling of nuclear warheads.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the missile exercise and the state media cited him as instructing the units to stand ready to attack the enemy.
North Korean ruling party gazette Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday also released photos of the missile launch and Kim with his officials at the drill.
Amid ongoing South Korea-U.S. military exercises, North Korea on Monday morning fired at least four ballistic missiles. Among them, three were dropped on the Japanese exclusive economic zone after flying around one-thousand kilometers.
