Russia's Foreign Ministry has criticized North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles, as well as joint military drills between South Korea and the United States, calling both acts that escalate tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

In a statement on the North’s latest missile launch on Tuesday, the ministry said Moscow is closely watching the situation on the peninsula.

Russia urged all related parties to exercise self-restraint and seriously consider the negative consequences of further escalation for regional security and stability.

Moscow also stressed that involved parties should intensify efforts to seek political and diplomatic solutions to issues surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
