A man claiming to be Kim Han-sol, the son of North Korean leader's half brother Kim Jong-nam, has appeared in a video posted on YouTube.

He said his father has been killed a few days ago and he is currently with his mother and sister.

He holds up his passport in front of the camera but the page showing his personal information has been blurred out.

The video was posted from an account called Cheollima Civil Defense. They claim the Kim family has requested help from them and they have met with members of the group to be transported to a safe place.

The Unification Ministry has said they have never heard of this group before.

Kim Jong-nam was killed in Kuala Lumpur International Airport last month. He is survived by 21-year old eldest son Han-sol, a grandson of the former North Korean ruler, Kim Jong-il.
