S. Korea to Increase Rewards for N. Korean Defectors

South Korea plans to increase the rewards and settlement subsidies for North Korean defectors.
Unification Ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-hee announced the plan during a regular news briefing on Wednesday.
The government recently announced advance notice of a revision bill, which will allow it to give as much as one billion won in rewards to North Korean defectors who have important intelligence and knowledge about North Korea.
The ministry said last year that it would review diverse policies regarding state support for the settlement of North Korean defectors.
