Defector: Kim Jong-un Behind Assassination of His Half Brother

North Korea’s former deputy ambassador to London Thae Yong-ho who defected to Seoul last year claims that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is behind the assassination of his half brother Kim Jong-nam.
According to Japanese media on Thursday, Thae made the remarks in a news conference with Japanese journalists in Seoul the day earlier.
Thae said that the estranged older half brother had been the biggest obstacle for the North Korean leader in cementing his leadership in North Korea. Thae added that the North Korean leader might have found it burdensome that the existence of Kim Jong-nam could become widely known in the North, as he was covered by foreign news outlets.
The former North Korean diplomat said that the son of Kim Jong-nam, Han-sol, is another obstacle the North Korean leader must remove, adding that it remains to be seen how long the younger Kim can survive.
Thae also said that the North began producing biological and chemical weapons in the late 1960s and North Koreans have related equipment and antidotes prepared at their houses and workplaces.
