Video Shows Ri Jong-chol Ties with Assassination Suspects

Anchor: A video showing now deported North Korean Ri Jong-chol and a consul to Malaysia is in the spotlight following the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half brother. In the footage, the North Korean diplomat is captured discussing the four North Korean suspects, which he said had made a systematic exit from Malaysia to Pyongyang.
Park Jong-hong has this report.
Report: In the video, North Korean Ri Jong-chol is seen walking into the immigration building flanked by the Malaysian police.
Ri had just been freed from police custody due to lack of evidence after being arrested in connection to the assassination of Kim Jong-nam last month.
With his hands tied behind his back, Ri Jong-chol and two staff members of the North Korean embassy including consular representative Kim Yu-song had a conversation, seemingly unaware that they were being filmed.

“You did a good job. The comrades are very worried about you after they made an orderly exit."
The North Korean consular representative is recorded praising Ri and says his comrades are very worried after "making an orderly exit."
The comrades are presumed to refer to the four key suspects who fled to Pyongyang before Ri got arrested.
When Ri thanked him, Kim continued to offer moral support.

“You did well. You did a great job. It’s no easy thing … what you did.”
Several times they were caught smiling on camera.
Malaysian media outlet Astro Awani managed to secure this one-minute and ten-second long video and made it public.
The video was reportedly filmed on March third when Ri Jong-chol was handed an order of deportation from Malaysia.
Observers say the video shows that Ri, the key suspects and the North Korean embassy already knew one another well and this may be considered evidence that North Korea was deeply involved in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam with the use of a lethal chemical called VX nerve agent.
