Gov't Mulls N. Korea Bid to Attend Sport Event in S. Korea

North Korea may send athletes to a women's international ice hockey tournament in South Korea next month.

An official with South Korea's Unification Ministry says North Korea has contacted the International Ice
Hockey Federation in a bid to compete in the Women's World Championship to be held in South Korea's Gangwon Province next month.

He says the ministry was reviewing whether to approve the request.

The women's ice hockey championship is a test event for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics next year.

Separately, the two Koreas are expected to face each other on the football pitch on April seventh in AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifying matches scheduled in Pyongyang. .
