Tillerson Calls for 'New Approach' to N. Korea
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says it's time to talk about what he calls a "new approach" to the escalating threat from North Korea.
He met with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida Thursday in Tokyo, saying it remains important to strengthen cooperation with Japan and South Korea in dealing with Pyongyang's nuclear and missile threat.
Tillerson and Kishida urged North Korea to refrain from provocative acts and abide by UN Security Council resolutions.
They agreed Washington, Seoul and Tokyo will continue to take coordinated steps to pressure the North and to urge China to exert its influence on Pyongyang.
