North Korea says it has conducted a test of a new high-thrust rocket engine, claiming the test was a success.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un observed the ground test of the rocket engine at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground in North Pyongyan Province.

The KCNA claimed the new type of engine developed by the North has higher thrust power and that the test was a success, while North Korean ruling party gazette Rodong Sinmun published a few photos showing the engine test.

The photos show two smaller flames around the engine, indicating that the North attached a few auxiliary engines to the main engine for the test.
