Malaysian Police: N. Korea's Independent Investigation Will be Illegal

Malaysian authorities say an independent investigation by North Korea into the assassination of Kim Jong-nam would be an illegal act.
Malaysia's Royal Police Chief Khalid Abu Bakar told local media on Thursday that North Korean investigators have no right to ask questions or look into materials.
He added that if someone tries to probe the case, that person will have to get the Malaysian police’s approval even if that person is a lawful official.
The police chief’s remarks come after Singapore’s Channel NewsAsia said that the North launched its own investigation in Malaysia on Kim’s assassination after Malaysia rejected its request to carry out a joint investigation.
Kim Jong-nam, the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was murdered last month at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
