Malaysia to Hand over Kim Jong-nam's Remains to N. Korea

Malaysia will reportedly hand over the remains of the North Korean leader’s half brother Kim Jong-nam to Pyongyang on Monday.

A high-ranking North Korean defector claimed the North said it would bring the body home, but instead it may throw it away in China or the Yalu River before reaching Pyongyang, adding leader Kim Jong-un could order for the remains to be thrown out anywhere.

Malaysian authorities had refused to hand over Kim’s body citing the need for a thorough investigation into his murder, but it finally decided to cremate the body and give it to the North 42 days after his assassination.

North Korea has insisted Kim’s body be returned, but there was speculation the demand was aimed at destroying evidence to cover up its involvement in Kim’s murder rather than to take the body to hold a proper funeral in the North.
