Despite the tension surrounding North Korea's repeated provocations, a new flight service has opened connecting Pyongyang and Dandong in China.
 
The Associated Press reported that the first Air Koryo flight, the North's national airline, landed at Pyongyang's Sunan Airport on Tuesday carrying 50 Chinese tourists.
 
China's official Xinhua News Agency said that the Chinese nationals received a warm welcome by the flight crew and company officials.
 
Since March last year, Air Koryo’s service has been limited to only China and Russia.
 
A source close to North Korea and China says Pyongyang is trying aggressively to earn foreign dollars due to the cash crunch resulting from the punitive resolutions.
