N. Korean Women’s Ice Hockey Team to Play in World Championship in Gangneung

The Unification Ministry has approved a North Korean female ice hockey team’s request to participate in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship, which will be held in Gangneung, in April.
A ministry official said Tuesday that the ministry made the decision in the late afternoon.
The North Korean team will consist of 20 players and ten coaches and support staffers. They sought the approval through the International Ice Hockey Federation(IIHF) for their plan to visit the South Korean city from April first through the ninth.
As a test event for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, the women’s world championship will be held in Gangnueng from April second to eighth. The two Koreas will face off on April sixth.
