Experts: Series of Nuclear, ICBM Tests Possible

Anchor: The U.S.-based 38 North have observed multiple signs that indicate a sixth nuclear test is imminent in North Korea. Experts say it is likely that the test could come between sometime later this month and mid-April. They believe North Korea could launch intercontinental ballistic missiles together with an underground nuclear explosion to cause the most commotion.
Kim Bum-soo wraps up the experts predictions.

Report: A high level South Korean government source said that patterns at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site are similar to those observed shortly prior to previous nuclear experiments.

The source said that North Korea appears to have completed preparations and it would try to maximize the political impact of a nuclear test by finding the most effective day.

Intelligence authorities of South Korea and the U.S. believe that the sixth nuclear experiment could come on or around Friday this week, given the current test preparations.

If not in March, the North may find opportune timing in April. The 105th birthday of its late founder Kim Il-sung falls on April 15th and the 25th marks the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean People's Army.

Experts also pointed out that the Pyongyang regime could stage a strategic move before the upcoming U.S.-China summit expected around April sixth.

They noted that the North could carry out a nuclear experiment and also test launch intercontinental ballistic missiles in short intervals to gain more attention. Some suggested that the experiment could include multiple underground atomic explosions as North Korea is exerting all-out efforts to be officially recognized as a nuclear state.

The North fired four ballistic missiles earlier this month and conducted at least three ICBM engine tests.
