38 North: 70-100 People Seen at N. Korean Nuclear Test Site
New satellite images have showed up to 100 people gathering at North Korea’s main nuclear test site, providing further indication imminent nuclear test.
The U.S.-based North Korea-monitoring Web site, 38 North, on Wednesday disclosed the satellite imagery captured on Tuesday at the North’s Punggye-ri nuclear test site.
The imagery showed a large contingent consisting of 70 to 100 people standing in formation in the courtyard of the Main Administrative Area at the site.
38 North said such a large gathering hasn’t been seen since January fourth of 2013, a month before the North’s third nuclear test.
The monitoring Web site also said heightened levels of activity have also been observed at the North Portal of the site over the past several days.
38 North said given the North’s knowledge of surveillance satellite activities, the show of such a large number of people may be intended to be a political message from Pyongyang that the sixth nuclear test will be conducted soon.
