Gov't: New US Sanctions a Strong Message to N. Korea

South Korea says the first sanctions imposed on North Korea under the Donald Trump administration send a strong message to Pyongyang.
The government said the sanctions affirm the U.S. is determined to make North Korea realize there is no option but to end its nuclear weapons program.
Seoul also said the fresh sanctions are a strong warning that if Pyongyang refuses to abandon nuclear and missile development, it will face even stronger sanctions and pressure by the international community.
The government added it is strengthening cooperation with the U.S. and other countries to deliver swift punitive measures if North Korea wages another provocation.
On Friday, Washington further blacklisted a North Korean firm and eleven people involved in funding activities for the regime's nuclear and missile programs.
Under the sanctions, any property within the U.S. held by a blacklisted person is frozen, and Americans are banned from doing any business with them.
