New Evidence Links N. Korea to Bangladesh Heist
The Wall Street Journal and CNN are citing a Russian cyber security firm in a new report linking North Korea to last year’s cyber heist of the Bangladesh central bank’s account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Russian-based Kaspersky Lab ZAO says it has digital evidence that links a hacking group blamed for the cyber theft to a computer in North Korea.
Kaspersky says the hacking group, named "Lazarus," made a direct connection from an IP address in North Korea to a server in Europe that was used to control infected systems.
The hackers reportedly failed to wipe the logs from the hacked server, leaving a trail of evidence.
