The government strongly denounced North Korea’s launch on Wednesday of a ballistic missile.
 
In a statement issued under the name of Foreign Ministry Spokesman Cho June-hyuck, the government said the North’s latest provocation is a blatant challenge against UN Security Council(UNSC) resolutions against the North’s nuclear and missile provocations. 

The statement also said the missile launch threatened not only the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula but also of the rest of the world.
 
The statement added that the North must clearly come to realize that its provocations will lead the international community to further push forward sanctions and punitive measures against Pyongyang and will speed up the North’s self-destruction.
 
The government said it will further strengthen cooperation with the international community at the UNSC to deal with the North’s continued provocations.
