Report: U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that all options are on the table with regard to responding to North Korea’s continued nuclear tests and missile launches.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters that Trump made the remark when they spoke over the phone earlier in the day to discuss the North’s latest missile launch.

Abe said that he and Trump shared the view that the North’s launch of a ballistic missile on Wednesday is a dangerous provocation and a move that poses a serious threat to Japan’s security.

Abe said that Trump made the remark about all options being on the table when he told the U.S. president that Tokyo will be paying close attention to what China will have to say about Pyongyang.

Trump’s statement is drawing attention as it comes amid some opinions that dialogue, sanctions and military action all have limits in handling the North’s continued provocations.

Abe added that his country will continue to work with the international community and strengthen ways to respond to Pyongyang’s provocations.

A Japanese government official said that Trump and Abe agreed during the phone conversation that close cooperation among Seoul, Washington and Tokyo and China’s role are all crucial in addressing the North’s provocations.
