N. Korea Claims Fear of War Widespread in S. Korean Military

The North Korean ruling party gazette Rodong Sinmun has covered a recent KBS report that a South Korean engineering unit sought approval from parents of its soldiers on whether to put them on a military operation.
The soldiers whose parents refused to give approval were reportedly excluded from the operation.
The North Korean daily said on Sunday that a similar incident occurred at another engineering unit, which indicates that a fear of war is widespread within the South Korean troops intimidated by the North’s mighty military power.
The paper said that there is a growing tendency that South Korean young people fear war and as a result, avoid conscription.
