Chinese Nuclear Envoy Vows Efforts for US-N. Korea Talks

China’s top nuclear envoy Wu Dawei says that he will work hard to arrange bilateral talks between the U.S. and North Korea since the two sides are against multilateral negotiations.
Sim Sang-jung, presidential nominee of the progressive Justice Party said that Wu made the remarks on Tuesday during their meeting at the National Assembly.
Wu reportedly said that North Korea could receive massive financial support from China if it abandons its nuclear ambitions, but the Kim Jong-un regime is not listening to China, calling it an intervention in its domestic affairs.
The Chinese envoy repeated China’s opposition to the deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system to the Korean Peninsula, saying that the deployment will certainly hurt China’s security interests.
He urged Seoul to respect Beijing’s opposition and to take necessary steps on the matter.
