G7 Foreign Ministers Call on N. Korea to Abandon Nuke Program

Foreign ministers from the Group of Seven(G7) adopted a joint statement on Tuesday urging North Korea to abandon its nuclear program and refrain from additional provocations.
The North’s nuclear threat was high on agenda of the two-day meeting in Lucca, Italy, along with the situation in Syria.
The ministers strongly denounced Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile tests and voiced concerns about the human rights situation in the North and the inhumane treatment North Korean workers overseas are subject to. They also deplored the country’s appropriation of the public budget for its nuclear and missile development.
The G7 ministers also expressed serious concerns about the use of chemical weapons in the apparent assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half-brother Kim Jong-nam in Malaysia in February.
