Taiwan Bans Imports of 35 N. Korean Minerals

Taiwan has halted imports of North Korean minerals, joining global sanctions on the reclusive regime.
According to Taiwan's Liberty Times newspaper on Thursday, Vice Foreign Minister Lee Chen-jan told parliament a day earlier that Taiwan has stopped importing mineral resources from the North in accordance with UN Security Council sanctions.
Taiwan's latest measure is in line with Resolution 2321 adopted by the Security Council last November.
The import ban applies to 35 minerals including coal, iron ore and rare earth elements.
The country's Foreign Ministry said that although Taiwan is not a member of the UN, it is strictly abiding by UN resolutions as a member of the international community.
