China's Foreign Minister Urges Halt to N. Korea's Nuke Program and S. Korea-US Joint Drills

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on all related countries to refrain from engaging in any action that could escalate conflict for the sake of easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Wang made the call during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel in Berlin on Wednesday.
Wang said North Korea must scrap its nuclear weapons program and South Korea and the U.S. must end their large-scale joint military drills. He said the most pending task at hand is for all countries involved in the conflict on the Korean Peninsula to resume negotiations.
He said security and stability can easily be broken and there is a big risk of new conflicts and incidents occurring at any time. He then urged all related parties to exercise self-restraint and avoid any words or actions that could lead to new provocations.
