Chinese Media Warn of Worsened Ties with N. Korea

China is using state-run media to warn North Korea that its failure to abandon its nuclear pursuit will inevitably worsen ties with China.
The Global Times newspaper, a sister publication of the Communist Party's People's Daily, on Thursday published an op-ed titled "China must be ready for worsened North Korea ties."
The paper said that China's strict implementation of UN Security Council resolutions sanctioning North Korea is watched by all, and that if Pyongyang continues with its nuclear and missile tests, China is bound to support harsher resolutions.
The editorial noted that as the situation on the Korean Peninsula worsens, Beijing-Pyongyang ties may further deteriorate and that "China should ready itself for unfriendly activities by North Korea."
It added that Beijing should be firm in opposing the North's nuclear programs.
Daily NK, a Seoul-based news outlet dedicated to North Korean affairs, also reported that authorities in Pyongyang, through lectures on residents, were denouncing China for pressuring the North in tandem with the United States.
