India Announces Measures to Implement UNSC Resolutions on N. Korea

India is halting its trade with North Korea, excluding food and medicine, in a bid to implement UN Security Council(UNSC) resolutions against its diplomatic partner.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday that the Indian government effectuated an executive order to fulfill its obligations under the UNSC resolutions on the North late last month.

Under the measures, the Indian government is halting the supply of any items deemed to contribute to enhancing the North Korean military’s operational capabilities. The measures also ban the exports of any luxury goods.

India is also prohibiting the hosting of trainers, advisers, or other officials from the North for the purpose of military, paramilitary or police-related training.

North Koreans are also banned from receiving training or education in India in fields related to nuclear proliferation or the delivery of nuclear weapons, such as nuclear engineering and aerospace engineering.
