Trump: 'I Act if I Have to Act' on N. Korea

Anchor: After signaling his willingness to hold talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump has reverted back to taking a tough stance against the regime. But as regional tensions continue to run high over the threat posed by the North's nuclear and weapons programs, Trump's back and forth stance on the crisis has left officials in Washington to pick up the pieces.

Report: U.S. President Donald Trump has issued another warning to North Korea, saying he does not like drawing red lines but he acts if he has to.

In an interview with Fox News, he named North Korea as his biggest foreign policy concern.

Trump did not elaborate on what his ‘red line’ might be with young North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but pointed out he is well known for saying nothing when it comes to military options.

The latest remarks are in contrast to Trump's previous interview with Bloomberg News, during which he said he would be "honored" to meet with Kim, under the right circumstances.

However, his comments backfired. Chairman Ed Royce of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee said that the "right circumstances" should be for Pyongyang to stop its atomic weapons program and release political prisoners.

"Obviously, now is not the time. Now is not the time for those discussions because right now is the time to work with Beijing and the rest of the international community in order to put pressure on North Korea to stop its nuclear weapons program."

Other Washington heavyweights also warned against empowering the North's dictator by holding talks with him.

Chairman John McCain of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee told MSNBC that Trump's comments can help the credibility and the prestige of Kim Jong-un, who he said is "worse than a dictator."
