RFA: China Begins Inspecting All Cargo Bound for N. Korea

Radio Free Asia(RFA) reported on Thursday that Chinese authorities recently began inspecting all cargo bound for North Korea, hinting at Beijing’s increased efforts to reign in its defiant neighbor.
RFA quoted an unnamed trader in Dandong in the northeastern province of Liaoning as saying that Chinese customs authorities had ditched the former random inspection method several weeks ago and has since been inspecting all cargo heading to the North.
The source said the change in inspection methods means it is taking longer for cargo to pass through customs procedures.
Another trader in China’s border area confirmed the change to RFA saying despite a shortage in the workforce at the customs authorities and accompanying technical difficulty the move shows China's strong resolve to intensify its trade sanctions against the North.
