Seoul Denies Report about Trump's Invitation for US-N. Korea Talks

The South Korean government is seeking to refute the Kyodo News report that the U.S. has proposed talks with North Korea on the premise of the regime's denuclearization.
A South Korean Foreign Ministry official told reporters Tuesday Seoul deems the report not to be true, and referred journalists to the U.S. government for clarification.
While suggesting that there would not have been an invitation for talks that Seoul was not aware of, the official stressed that South Korea and the U.S.' joint position has been repeatedly confirmed by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and state and defense secretaries on various occasions.
The official said that Seoul and Washington are continuing an airtight collaboration at an unprecedented level over the North Korean nuclear issue.
