US House Proposes Bill to Disseminate Outside Info in N. Korea

The U.S. House of Representatives has proposed a bill aimed to facilitate internal change of North Korea by spreading outside information in the reclusive country.
Radio Free Asia(RFA) said on Wednesday that the bill was recently proposed by Ted Yoho, the vice chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the chairman of the Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee.
RFA said the bill is a revision to the 2004 North Korean Human Rights Act and will make it possible for the U.S. State Department to send electronic gadgets including information directly to North Korean residents or fund projects that do so.
In addition to radio, the bill will also grant the use of USB hard drives, micro SD cards, and various other video and audio players for the purpose.
The bill will also allow the provision of state funds for those developing new devices or methods to help disseminate information in the North. Popular culture such as music and movies will also be included among the possible outside information to be delivered to the North.
Three other U.S. House lawmakers joined Yoho as co-sponsors of the bill, including Ed Royce, the U.S. House chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Brad Sherman and Eliot Engel.
