N. Korea Fires Ballistic Missile

North Korea has fired a ballistic missile from a launch site in North Pyongan Province near its border with China.
South Korea's Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile was launched at 5:27 a.m. from Kusong located about 100 kilometers north of Pyongyang and flew about 700 kilometers before landing in the East Sea.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said military authorities of South Korea and the United States are working to identify the type of missile fired and other details.
The North's missile launch comes 15 days after it fired a missile on April 29th and four days after the launch of the Moon Jae-in administration in Seoul.
South Korean military authorities speculate that the latest missile launch was likely to be a success as it completed its flight without exploding in midair.
The missile North Korea fired last month blew up a few minutes after launch.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military said that the missile's flight pattern was “not consistent” with an intercontinental ballistic missile and did not threaten the United States.
President Moon immediately convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the missile launch.
